Magreth Omary

Founder of Sauna Investments, Magreth Omary knew there must be a better way to cut the bar soap she was making and selling. The traditional method of using string to cut the soap by hand was both labor intensive and time consuming. After attending a Twende Creative Capacity Building (CCB) workshop, she was able to successfully create a prototype of a soap cutter able to cut ten bars of soap per minute. Her innovation has also helped her community, both through the direct employment of youth as well as training and education for other entrepreneurs, students and individuals. Currently developing her second, electric-powered prototype, Magreth is also working on a project using local medicines, free of side effects,  to treat chickens, and she continues to produce liquid and bar soap, design and make jewelry, and craft carpets and batik. With the ongoing support of Twende Social Innovation Center, Magreth plans to continue innovating, giving back to her community, and acting as a role model for other women looking to chart their own path to success.
