A 2019 graduate of the University of Dar es Salaam, Joseph Sanga embodies the innovative spirit. After attending Twende’s Jamii Tech Program in 2019, Joseph founded his company, Taifa Innovative Solutions, and has been delivering innovations to help solve community problems ever since.

 His innovations have a wide range of applicability, from a pin and lock device to secure clothes drying on the line, to his Disabled Driving Mechanism, his driving simulation machine, and what may be his most impactful innovation, a touchless hand-washing station. Through these technologies Joseph helps all kinds of people save time, reduce labor, and improve the quality of their lives.

 His hand-washing stations work so well and are so cost effective, BRAC International partnered with the Tanzanian government to provide them to schools. By making hand washing accessible to schoolchildren – who often don’t have access to running water and sanitation facilities – Joseph has taken a huge step in helping stop the spread of Covid.
